Monday July 27 ACCESS Art

For the final week of July’s art class, students were tasked with a challenging methodical task of creating their own circular maze!

After drafting a plan of their maze, they drew it onto a circular eco-plate and designed a story to accompany it; characters and extra designs that help fill in a story for why the character wants to get to the end of the maze.

The finishing touches was creating a movable character that is controlled with magnetization on either side of the plate. It was a lot of fun for students and a great challenge to construct their own maze that was not only challenging but possible to complete!

What do you eat?

☆Dominos☆

I won two times!" "I won four times already!"

7/14 Amazing Flowers

Bubbles in the Sky

For Monday’s Art lesson, students were challenged with finding all the colors and dimensions within a bubble, then finding a way to illustrate it!

First, students went to a nearby park to observe the colors, sizes, shapes and different formations that bubble come in; and how they group together. Students learned due to the detergents and ingredients in the bubble mixture, bubbles, though clear, are actually iridescent colours of pinks, blues and yellows.

Back at school, students used pastel’s and various circle shapes stencils to make their bubble design, and then fill in the bubbles with bright pastels to mimic the iridescent colours of a bubble.

It was a great challenge for students to test their cognitive creativity as to how best convey the real colors of a bubble.

A Friend of Plants - Bird Art

This week at English Pocket for Monday’s Art study, students challenged their creative skills by making a bird craft. Birds have long been friends with our monthly theme; plants. In nature, birds help to cross pollinate, spread and help grow all plants of all shapes, sizes and varieties. Students learned of their integral role in the ecosystem and then used molding dough to create custom swirling designs on their birds.

Students designed the outlining shape of their bird, cut and pasted onto construction paper then it was dough time. Rolling the fragile dough and manipulating such small scale pieces of it was a fun challenge for students, and then creating their own unique designs was a great encouragement to their own imagination. Some students even made miniature animal designs within the bird itself!

It was wonderful to see how students tried their best and even helped each other during this weeks creative art activity!

▬Mancala▬

Mancala"

Monday Art −Beautiful vines−
